Photos from the annual commemoration (here in NYC at the UN, the Chinese Embassy and Consulate) of the March 10th, 1959 Tibetan Uprising against Communist Chinese Occupation, the attempted but failed kidnapping of HHDL by the PLA, and the assassination by the PLA of numerous Tibetan Government, Police, and Military Officials; which uprising was followed by several days of resistance — across Tibet but concentrated in the capitol, Lhasa — resulting in the deaths of many tens of thousands of Tibetan civilians Today, 63 years later, the same scenario of violent occupation aimed at illegal annexation, regime change by kidnapping and assassination, and desperate civilian resistance is playing out in Ukraine.
