Discovering the Nectar-Like Dharma:
Contemplative Guidance for Modern Practitioners
with His Eminence Jhado Rinpoche
Tue Dec 23, 6:30-8:30pm EST
IN-PERSON & ONLINE AT SHANTIDEVA
Soon after attaining perfect enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, Shakyamuni Buddha described his realization with five evocative words: profound, peaceful, elaboration-free, clear light, and non-composite. These terms point to the very heart of the Dharma—the unmistaken nature of reality as realized directly by a fully awakened mind. They also express why the Buddha initially hesitated to teach: not out of reluctance, but because the depth and subtlety of this realization seemed difficult for ordinary beings to fathom.
We are deeply honored to welcome H.E. Khensur Jhado Tulku Rinpoche for his first in-person visit to Shantideva Center. In this special teaching, His Eminence Jhado Rinpoche will offer guidance on how we might approach these timeless qualities today, in a world shaped by speed, pressure, and distraction. While the ultimate meaning of the Buddha’s description cannot be captured by language alone, even an initial appreciation becomes a powerful source of inspiration, strength, and direction along the path. Gaining even a small sense of the path’s fruition can reshape how we relate to each step along the way. When we recognize that the mind has the capacity for peace, insight, and openness, our daily efforts take on new meaning. Ethical living becomes more natural, meditation gains direction, and compassion becomes a source of strength. By contemplating the Buddha’s own description of awakening, we align ourselves with a long tradition of sincere seekers looking deeply into the nature of experience.
Rinpoche’s teaching offers a rare opportunity to connect with this depth of insight and to explore how these qualities can be contemplated, appreciated, and brought into our own lives—supporting a more spacious mind, a kinder heart, and a clearer sense of purpose. This session is open to all. Whether you are beginning your exploration of Dharma, continuing a steady practice, or simply seeking meaningful guidance, you are warmly invited to receive this nectar-like teaching from one of the great living masters of contemplative wisdom.
