Join an online screening of Claiming Everest, an award-winning documentary by New Jersey high school student Krishay Maskara, followed by a live discussion and Q&A.
This short documentary explores the history of Mount Everest and the Sherpa community, with a particular focus on the Sherpas’ struggle for rights and recognition. Through historical research and storytelling, the film examines the complex legacy of Everest, the narratives that have shaped public understanding of the mountain, and the experiences of the communities most closely connected to it.
Following the screening, participants will have the opportunity to join a live discussion exploring historical perspectives on Everest, Sherpa advocacy and representation, and the broader cultural and ethical dimensions of high-altitude climbing.
